I did not write this

This land like a mirror turns you inward
And you become a forest in a furtive lake;
The dark pines of your mind reach downward,
You dream in the green of your time,
Your memory is a row of sinking pines.

Explorer, you tell yourself this is not what you came for
Although it is good here, and green;
You had meant to move with a kind of largeness,
You had planned a heavy grace, an anguished dream.

But the dark pines of your mind dip deeper
And you are sinking, sinking, sleeper
In an elementary world;
There is something down there and you want it told.

Gwendolyn MacEwen

When you wrap up some of the most painful experiences of your life in memories of places you were both young & innocent and crazy & out of control and tie them together with a present desperation for change... you get reminded of Gwendolyn MacEwen poems a man you once loved read to you in the half light of a cold November Sunday morning.

  1. Funny how a great poem can make you evaluate your life.

    Hi, I found the way to keep on writing without making it to personal ( I wish), well, you must remember me from my last comment, I wanted to share something that helps me a lot, a must say, a companion since this uninvited guest changed my life.

    It's a simple song, but when I was so deep into my depression and sadness, this tune opened up my mind, I can say that maybe it would sound cliche, but it did touched me in a way that no other song ever did, and even though I had the record long before my diagnose, after it, is when the true beauty of the song really moved or touched the right nerve and it's impossible for me not to hear it and think of a way to change my reality.

    The song I'm talking about is (finally) New horizons by the Moody Blues, it appeared on their 7th album, Seventh Sojourm, please take your time and listen to it, soaring beautiful song!

    My ex gf ( yes, I got a month single, i know that in the end she got scared)hated that band, she said that they are "too depressing" for her taste, well, that's how the world works, each one of us has an opinion, of course, that band is not for everyday use, if you know what I mean. But this song is a mind changing tune, at least for me, my mood changes as I hear it, it's nice to have this kind of help on your everyday life.

    I'm listening to the album while writing this..
